Also known as paramedical tattooing, paramedical micropigmentation, or skin camouflage—Scar Camouflage Tattoo a specialized permanent makeup (PMU) technique designed to blend custom-matched skin pigment over scar tissue and skin discoloration into the surrounding natural skin under tone.

Scar camouflage uses custom-blended, skin-toned pigments carefully deposited into the dermal layer of the skin. The goal cannot be to erase the scar completely, but to visually minimize its contrast against the surrounding healthy skin, making it less noticeable.

How It Works

Color Matching: The artist formulates a custom pigment blend that matches the subtle undertones of your surrounding skin.

Micropigmentation: Using specialized tattooing needles, the micropigment is applied in light, stippled layers over multiple sessions to build up natural-looking depth.

Ideal Candidates & Suitable Conditions

Scar camouflage works best on scars that are lighter than the surrounding skin tone. Common applications include:

Surgical or trauma-induced scars: Tummy tucks, C-sections, breast augmentation breast lift or breast reconstruction, facelift scars, or orthopedic incision scars.

Skin conditions: Stable vitiligo, stretch marks (striae), or flat (non-pitted) post-acne marks.

For scars and stretch marks, it is often recommended to start with inkless revision (priced separately) to improve the quality of the skin before tattooing it. After inkless revision, many people are satisfied with the result and elect to not do the pigmented camouflage tattoo.
